At the end of the online workshop of the“Silent Mentor Program”held in collaboration with the University of Malaya, Tzu Chi University President Ingrid Liu (Liu Yi-Jun) shared her views on the value of the workshop.“In 2012, the University of Malaya introduced this program from Tzu Chi University in Taiwan in order to give medical students a better understanding of the human body's physiological structure. In contrast, for several decades previously, students at a university in Indonesia had to use a shared cadaver. Can you imagine?”At Tzu Chi University, thousands of“cadaver teachers”have donated their bodies to the university for the students’education, for simulated surgical operations, and for medical research. These silent yet generous individuals had only one hope: that through them, medical students will be able to improve their knowledge and save more lives when they become medical practitioners in the future. 66 Hualien Issue
