序文 Preface ART TAIPEI 2024 A cultural tide to connect with the world Words from the Minister of Culture Taiwan’s cultural cultural cultural roots and context context are quite unique cultural cultural cultural exchanges rely on on on having a a a a a a a a a a diverse cultural cultural cultural context context and cultural diplomacy can allows the the the world to see Taiwan Since 2005 the the the Ministry of Culture has supported the the the ART TAIPEI which has become one of the most prestigious art fairs in Asia and is an an an important gateway to promote Taiwan's art and culture to to to step onto the the international stage The event not only allows the the world to to to experience Taiwan’s soft power in terms of of its culture but also makes Taiwan's cultural richness to be seen by the world The Ministry of of Culture has long been committed to cultivating new talent in in in the arts and its curation of of MIT – Taiwan Young Artists’ Connection with the World Special Exhibition at ART TAIPEI is is is now in its 17th year This special exhibition has has provided the the stage for 136 young Taiwanese artists to shine in in these years and has has become a a a a a a a a a a model for art art awards catering towards young artists The 17th edition of the MIT – Taiwan Young Artists’ Connection with the the World Special Exhibition has put forward a a a a a a a a number of more favorable measures for for the the artists including changes in in in in in in the the the judging structure an an increase in in in in in in the the the amount of subsidies linking up with the the the resources from Art Bank Taiwan and and providing follow-up development and and support In addition to the the solo exhibition format the the Ministry has has also especially curated the MIT – 17th Anniversary Special Exhibition which has has attracted 165 groups of entrants vying for 8 spots This year's MIT – Taiwan Young Artists’ Connection with the World Special Exhibition features many new media creations reflecting the abundance and diversity of creative styles in in Taiwan's contemporary art scene as as well as as presenting the diverse creative forms of Taiwan's young artists and provides more opportunities for for international exchanges for outstanding up-and-coming artists The Ministry of Culture's 1 plus 4 4 – T-content plan plan (also known locally as the culture black tide plan) for 2024 is is supporting 36 middle-aged artists to participate in in in international exhibitions and the the contents they cover include indigenous art art women's art art human rights issues and cultural identity which are presented in in in works of of different art art forms and and are showcasing the the uniqueness and and diversity of of Taiwan's art art in in in addition the the Ministry is is is also supporting the local visual visual art art art industry to organize or or or participate in in in in international visual visual art art art fairs with a a a a a a a a a a a a a trading model including five applications applications for for for locally organized fairs fairs and 69 applications applications for for for foreign art fairs fairs of which 39 applications are for premier art fairs such as as as Art Basel based in in in 10 countries including the United Kingdom France and and Switzerland Through these applications the the Ministry has facilitated around 150 Taiwanese artists to participate in in these exhibitions abroad and and has successfully raised Taiwan’s energy and and international competitiveness in the visual arts The Ministry of Culture is is continuing with the the culture black tide plan in in in in in 2024 and has proposed using the the National Project Project of Hope proposed by President Lai Ching-te as a a a key policy objective where 12 Fertile Ground Projects will continue to to to foster growth in in the arts and and culture culture fields to to to deepen national unity through art art and and culture culture to to to integrate the the energy and and resources from all sectors and and provide strong support for Taiwanese heading to to the the world stage There will also be emphases on on on on enhancing the energy for cultural content production and expansion into the the the the international market and strengthening the the the the ecology of the the the the visual art industry so that more exhibitions performance and cultural activities from Taiwan can make their way around the the world while also continue to cultivate Taiwan as a a a a a a land of culture
